Lonely Hearts Beware! How many times have we fallen into a marketing scheme promising to meet the love of your life? It's everywhere! People are making big bucks on hopeless romantics—people who genuinely want to find a meaningful relationship with another human being. It's all great—but our vulnerabilities are being used to make money for those who really don't care if we meet the love of our lives. It's just business. Money, money, money! Events and Adventures is a business. It's not there to help you find the love of your life. They are there to get you to sign a membership with them to keep them in business running social events. I should have seen the warning signs but I was quite vulnerable and distracted when I signed-up. I was getting sick of meeting bad men. I have been over worked and wanted to find ways to uplift my life and just have fun. That's what got me to inquire about the club. I got a call from their head office in Seattle after filling out their inquiry from on their website. They called and called non-stop. When I finally talked to one of their representatives, I was told that they are an exclusive singles club and they screen their members to ensure only "quality" people are allowed in. They do background checks to make sure people are genuinely single and have not been involved in criminal activity. I thought that was good because I really don't want to hang around a bad crowd. However, when I finally met up with a representative with their Vancouver, BC office, it was high pressure sales. The lady who met up with me was Jewal. She seemed really bubbly and friendly. Very friendly. When I started asking questions at the waiting area, she didn't really want to answer. She wanted to know if I brought money. I said, no. I don't know what their club is about yet. She said to come back another time when I have money because if she interviews me now for their club's screening process, and I'm not ready to sign, I won't be available for their special discount. I was a bit turned-off by this and I told her, well I don't care about the discount. I already travelled all the way from Richmond to Vancouver and I don't really wanna have to go back. So, she let me go into her "office" and started to tell me about the club. Again, I should have seen the signs. She started telling me how this club was her life and it was the best thing she's ever done getting this job. She even told me how she's been through where I am. Ugh... Remembering it, just makes me shudder why I joined. She proceeded to tell me that she was involved with a man... Blah... Blah... And after they made love, he told her he loved her and wanted to be with her... And then bamm... He's actually married. Did I need to know that? I know she wanted to relate to my own bad experiences with dating... But that was too much information. But, she got me. She made me drop my defences because I felt I could relate to her. I had to fill out this personality quiz to see if I fit their club. Fine. Whatever. I apparently passed. Jewal is a shark of a salesperson and I was the clown fish who got eaten. "Just between you and me", you are here to meet the love of your life... Blah... Blah..." "Two years of dating... Then you can tell your mother how you met the love of your life by joining E & A." "We have weddings every month from people meeting here at E &A"."When you become a widow, you can go back to Events and Adventures and find someone again". The best membership option for you is the $75 a month, which is lifetime, and you can pay the $4400 membership fee this way. I was vulnerable and I got sucked into a membership that is ripping me off right now. They won't let me out of my contract even though I'm in a committed relationship right now with someone who I didn't even meet there. I will also be moving into another province. So, why should I continue paying for a service I can't use. I've already reported them to BBB in Vancouver. They are very sly. They are very good at what they do to keep themselves in business. "We are not a dating service. You can still attend events even if you are "dating" someone." Why would I continue going to a "singles" club when I'm with someone already? They were so particular about making sure people aren't married to join to protect the single people. But, it's okay if you are not engaged yet to attend. Do you think the significant other would be happy if their girlfriend/boyfriend exclusively attend a "SINGLES" club. Not! WTF??? Please, anyone out there, who thinks of joining this club, do not ever! They are slick, sly, and are only after your money.
