Events & Adventures, Inc
Rip off, Scam, Negative Sales Tactic, and the Poorest customer service EVER!

Before going on with my review, let me start by telling you I am not a member and am not commenting on how their services are once you are a member. I am here to tell you how this company treated me and wasted my time during the interview. I highly recommend you DO NOT join this membership unless you have money to throw away, or at the very least, before reading all the reviews available.

I heard of Events and Adventures on the radio and in the newspaper. After hearing it several times, I thought I should check it out to see what it's all about. I thought "what a great idea! A singles club for a more active social life." That's what I was interested in, meeting new people and not just single men. I was unable to find the information I was looking for, and when I got close, the website directed me to fill out a form. So I did, and received a call within a day. I was hoping they would answer the most important question for me, but they avoided telling me the price of membership until I made an appointment. Red Flag! I declined at the time and moved on with my life giving it no thought until 2 months later. I received another call from them to get me in for an appointment again. Feeling a bit pressured but still curious about what it was all about I decided to go check it out.

I went to the Vienna, VA location and met with Jamie. The second red flag I received was when she asked me personal questions about my relationship history. List all the dating services/sites you've joined... When was your last relationship? How long was it? How long prior to that relationship had you been in a relationship? How many dates have you had in the last six months? What is your weekly schedule like? How much money do you keep in your checking account? How much in your savings account? And what is your credit card limit? When we got to the financial information, I knew this was a scam... Third red flag. I asked several times how much this was going to cost, and her answer was always the same..."We'll make it affordable, don't worry." During this interview and in between her personal questions, Jamie told me statistics about the number of single people in this area and the ratios of men to women, and the likeliness of ending up single past 40. All this things, to make me feel worse about myself and to convince me this is what I needed to change my life.

After asking me the financial questions, she left the office for 15 minutes. All the while, I heard Jamie next door talking to a woman who seemed to be her boss. Jamie was trying to figure out how to get me to sign up for this. I heard the entire conversation through the walls. Jamie would ask her "boss" if she could offer me this plan, or that plan, never discussing numbers but you could tell they were talking about the plan to offer me. Jamie said, "I offered the last guy this plan, can I do the same for her?" Her "boss" said, "Why would you do that? You would only be screwing yourself! You shouldn't have even done that for the last guy! No, if they don't pay the full amount up front, there is no joining! If you offer them this plan, they won't know the difference and they'll go for that one." I cannot say exactly what they were referring to but after reading reviews of members who have joined, they paid additional "maintenance fees" of $25-30/month on top of the $1600 joining fee and $30/month membership dues.

I believe Jamie knew I wouldn't go for it and that's why she was asking the lady next door. When she came back into the office, she pulled out a laminated sheet with the membership pricing on it. Keep in mind, she told me earlier several times that she would make it affordable for me. These prices, were standard, non-negotiable. I looked at them as she was explaining them to be, then looked up at her with bug-eyes and said, "REALLY? This is crazy." I started to pick up my things and said "I'm sorry to have wasted your time. Had I known how much this would've been I would not have come." She stood up before I did and said "me too, " and walked out of the room. She walked out of the office without looking at me, without saying thank you for coming in, or if you change your mind let us know or anything. Final red flag, what kind of club is being organized by people like this? This representation of how they treat people goes to show how they would treat people at events, and I for one have every intention of turning people away from it. This company should not even be in business and should be run out of this country for misleading people and taking advantage of those who seek companionship and love.

One final note, when I asked Jamie if all of these funds covered all of the events, she flat out said no, not all of them! Really? After paying $2000 (plus the undisclosed maintenance fee of an additional $300-$360), not all of the events are free!
