I took my sister-in-law's dog in when her day old mass growing on her underside thorax began to bleed. After filling out paperwork and entering a room, it was under 15 minutes when the "doctor" returned with her diagnosis.
"There is nothing we can do. We are going to re-wrap her and you'll have to take her to her regular vet tomorrow."
When I got the $171.50 bill, I questioned what they actually did. To me it seemed like they would just charge an $85 emergency exam fee, since they didn't really do anything.
The young vet, Dr.? Berry, immediately got defensive and abrupt. She tried justifying the $28 bandage fee and a separate $28 cut clean & med fee, a $40 emergency fee on top of the $45 exam fee.
When I told them I'd agree to pay their $85 for their 15 minute service, they promptly told me they'd report me to collections for the rest. I called my sisnlaw and told her the deal. She got to the vet hosp. And — in order for me to avoid some shady collections claim, I asked for my paperwork back since hers would replace mine. The clerk quickly made a copy and handed it to me. He belligerently told me that they would not release my personal information until it was ok'd by their superior.
Wow. Shady.
So I had to wait for their superior to ok it, and got both copies of my paperwork back.

You'll find that the stories are consistent. They do not care about your animal. They only want your $ and they will take it or they'll do something real shady to get it.
These guys are attempting a robbery every time a customer walks in.
