I made a purchase of 6 pairs of shoes at Shoebuy.com's sale website called Events at Shoebuy.com. I usually buy a couple of different sizes so I can see which ones fit. Since Shoebuy.com does free shipping and free returns it shouldn't be a problem. But it was a big problem. Not only did they send me shoes that were clearly defective - one shoe was bigger than the other even though they were supposed to be a pair of size 7. One was CLEARLY bigger than the other - the strap looked like it was stretched and it was re-glued.
The other shoes simply didn't fit right.
I called for a refund and they would not issue a refund. They said because I bought it during one of their "sale events" that there would be a $6.95 re-stocking fee PER item. The incredibly rude customer service rep had the audacity to tell me to just give the shoe away if I didn't want to pay the re-stocking fee.
It was clear I had no idea why there was a re-stocking fee, and I did not see that fine print on the website because it was buried deep on other pages. It also wasn't obvious in the email they sent me. You had to scroll for a very long time to the very end and it was in TINY print, in faded gray over white font. Not noticeable at all.
Had that been made clear, I would have NEVER made any purchase on that site. But, it was not made clear. The rude service rep said that I should've known the rules. It it a complete rip-off. Now I have 6 pairs of shoes that I don't want and can not return all because of their ploy of burying fine print.
Do not buy from Shoebuy.com! Especially stay away from Events at Shoebuy.com when they have a big sale. They are out to off load their poor quality, discontinued inventory and stick YOU with the bill even if it is defective and even if it doesn't fit your feet.
