I have been looking for work over a year, and was getting desperate. I got an email from one of the work at home job offers I applied to saying that they would be confirming my mailing address and told me that they would send out my contract when this information was confirmed. I got the contract, with a check for over four thousand dollars. I deposited this check at my bank, and a couple days later I checked to see that it had posted so I could call the control center and receive my assignment and complete it. I found out that the check was no good, and the bank charged *me* 10.00 bad check fee on top of another 36.00 fee. I called the control center time and time again and each time I was conveniently disconnected or hung up on. I was told at one point that the "legal department" would be getting back to me within 24 hours. It's been almost 72 hours, and no call. When I went to the bank to see if they would help me, they told me that they thought it was a scam and that even lawyers had fallen for it. Still, I'm being held liable for the bad check fees. I went to the police and filed a report, and I also filed with the fraud department of my bank. I don't want to see anyone else fall victim to this scam, so I filed a report complaint also. Please, I beg you, don't fall for this.
