Clear Wire entered the Austin market in November. A friend of mine who has a cell phone store told me he was aboutr to sell this service that will replace my Cricket.
I was excited because I need a service that works with NetFlix download and I refuse to use the monopoly of Time Warner in round Rock - where I lve.
The Internet modem is supposed to get at least four lights - showing the Internet speed. I never got it over 1 light. Since it did not work, the company did not charge me for the first month and a half.
After about 90 days, it started barely working for about 60 percent of the time. As time progressed it petered down to 10 percent and then it stopped working entirely.
I ordered the Internet service with the extra thumb drive modem for back up. The thumb drive works elsewhere in the city, but I do not use it any where. The thumb drive was to supposed to be an extra $5/month.
Well, after four months they sent out a tech who confirmed that I was way too far away for any of their towers to give me any service. So I was released from the one year contract I reluctantly signed. I asked for a full refund, but they argued that since the thumb drive would work anywhere, I did not deserve the full refund.
So in essence they ripped me off of $200. If you search the web, you will see that they have been doing the same thing all over the country. They are a bigger scam then their parent company - SPRINT.
