Sherry Hayes charges $65.00 an hour to type a resume but won't give you a sample to see before she starts, nor will she give you sample formats to choose before she makes it. She spends much of your dime telling you in her faux-sincere drawl about herself and her 3 degrees and 15 years of experience and her 6 bookcases full of resume samples to choose from, so that you will think she is going to do a spectacular job for you. Meantime, she's charging you the above amount to hear it.
Someone else wrote a report about her here that is exactly the scenario that unfolded with me, the only difference being that she charged me 7 times the amount that she charged the other person she ripped off who filed a report. Also, she always has an excuse for why it will take her longer, or why she can't call you for a few days, and if you email her to inquire about something, she ignores you completely.
I was assured that I was getting a creative format resume. I've seen creative format resumes that are visually striking and figured it was worth that kind of money to a service since it would be easier than buying a desktop publishing program and doing it myself. I didn't get anything even in the ballpark of a creative format resume. I got a basic business-style format that is left-justified with a plain font. Truly nothing special. And it was replete with stilted language and some factual errors. This supposedly took a 15-year veteran in the resume business 4 hours to put together.
I still paid $422.00 - an amount that supposedly included a one hour review of the final product at $65.00 an hour. That final hour actually consisted of Sherry trying to figure out how to work her own credit card machine while on one phone with my bank and on another phone with me, so that she could run the charge through before letting me see anything she had done. When it came time to do the actual edits, Sherry said our hour was up. She still took all the money for it though.
My resume format is something anyone with a basic word processing program could do in about 2 hours tops who was flying blind into it, without 15 years of supposed experience and supposed access to desktop publishing programs.
I wrote to Sherry and told her everything I'm writing here and more that I didn't write here. If I were a business person, my response would be to attempt to rectify the problem to achieve customer satisfaction - especially at the price she charges for a service she speaks of so highly to get you to trust her. Her response was to thank me for my feedback. Since she appreciated my feedback so much yet had no regard for me as a customer, I would like to rectify the problem myself by letting everyone considering her service know how poorly she does business and how little regard she has for her paying customers.
