Arrogant and Inept

Since contracting with Dish Network a year and a half ago, we've likely spent more time on the phone with Dish Network customer support than actually watching Dish Network. The service has been entirely lacking on so many levels, it's hard to imagine that they're still in business.initially, the problem was with local programming. We live in Western PA, near Pittsburgh, and was naturally expecting that our local programming would reflect this. We found out after the two year contract was signed and the system installed that the Dish Service office covering our area was out of Youngstown, OH area, so as Dish explained it... Our local programming would consist of Youngstown stations and there was nothing that they could, or would, do about it.

Then, the next frustration — after the first three months, stations that were offered as temporary promotions (i.E. HBO, Showtime, etc) began appearing on our monthly statements as billable items. We had not agreed to add these, nor did we have any interest in adding them to our plan in the first place. It literally took 4 phone calls to Dish customer support supervisors, each of which was at minimum an hour in duration if you include time on hold, to get the these charges eradicated from our monthly bill. Dish was entirely unhelpful and unapologetic throughout.in nearly every case, we were given contradictory information from customer support reps which was only further contradicted when we'd wind up talking with supervisors.

We have approximately 6 months left on our contract, the expiration of which we eagerly await.in the meantime, Dish just raised their prices. When I called customer support to confirm this, the rep I initially spoke with actually denied that there was a rate increase, but was at a loss to explain why our bill was higher. I ended up speaking with a supervisor who admitted that there indeed was an increase, but could not explain why his subordinate did not acknowledge this.

This very evening, our Dish Network satellite began cutting out repeatedly. I, once again, had to call Dish customer support. The tech rep who was assisting me was giving me verbal instructions on what to do to restore the system, and at one point there was a wait of a couple of minutes while the program guide reloaded. All at once, I heard the phone line 'click', and in typical Dish Network fashion, the tech rep was gone and a dial tone sounded.

That has, in a nutshell, been my family's experience with Dish Network. I don't believe I've ever come across a company that has such blatant disregard for its customers. I NEVER thought I'd come across a company that makes cable companies look good!
