I was reviewing my charges on a recent bill from AT&T and found a charge of $8.43 from Greentree Data Inc. I had never heard of them. I called their 1-800# and talked to a person who was quick to say that they would cancel my services and the charges would be credited within 1 or 2 billing cycles. I said that I should not have to the charge for the next billing cycle because it is cancelled.
She replied that it was too far into the current cycle to stop the charge. I went back and forth stating that I never even ordered the service nor used it. I got no where. I then called AT&T and reported the incident asking for their help to stop any further charges and credit my account for the bill I have being the first charge I recieved. They were very good about addressing it right away and are sending me a new billing and blocking any further charge.
I could not believe that a compny could bill you on an established account (AT&T) without legitimate consent. It is a scam and I suspect that they are expecting to get free money from those who do not notice it. I would not rely on Greentree to credit you for anything. I am betting they go down soon. If you have an issue like this, keep filing complaints here. It helped me realize it was a scam.
