Complaint / Review
Federal Credit Corp
Illegal debt collection practices

First off this company lists itself as a corporation. They are only a corporation in Texas, though I do not know their status. They are also only bonded in Texas. They are not licensed, bonded or listed as a corporation in any other state. If anyone is contacted by them, I urge you to see if they must be licensed or bonded in your state, if they must be, DO NOT PAY THEM!!!

I was contacted by them around September. I am in Massachusetts and no debt collector can collect without a license. I sent them a debt validation letter right away. They continued to call 5 times and I finally told them about me DVing them. They said they never got the letter and it wasn't until I told them who signed for it and the date they got it that they said the calls would stop and they hung up on me. Afterwards they put the debt on my credit report, I disputed it and they verified it without providing validation, a violation of the FDCPA, continued collection activity. They also did not mark it as disputed. I have recently disputed it again before I file suit against them and are awaiting the results.

I Filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the Massachusetts Division of Banks. Apparently they where told to cease and desist collecting in Massachusetts on July 11. They never responded to the state's affidavit nor did they apply for a debt collection license. I quote the letter sent recently to them from the MA DOB:

"Federal Credit Corp's willful disregard of Commonwealth of Massachusetts statutes and regulations and Division directives is alarming."

I am getting all my ducks in a row and will be speaking to a lawyer very soon. I urge anyone who is contacted by them to do the same as I have and shut them down.
