Direct TV Satellite Six Month Nigthmare of fraudulent Charges for Satellite receiver never installed

In June I received a call from DTV saying they were confirming an order for a service call. I told them I had not placed any order and did not know what they were talking about, and told them I did not need a service call.in July DirecTV charged me $50 for a service call to install an extra TV receiver at my home in June, and they began charging me a montly fee as well. Not only was the receiver never installed in my house, no extra line was ever added from the satellite for the extra receiver. There was also no one at home during the week when they claim they installed it.

I called DTV a couple of times each month to dispute the charges and to say the extra receiver was never installed, but they would never accept my story. I asked them to also come out to check that no new line was aded and no receiver had been installed. They refused to come out and check their own error unless I paid them a $50 service fee which I refused to do! Amazingly, they also refused to give me any documentation to show that I signed or authorized any receiver to be installed.instead they told me I would have to prove to them that the receiver was never installed. I asked them to get the installer to call me or come by but they would not do it.

After many calls they claimed that an individual had called to order the receiver. I had never heard of him. At one point, they essentially accused me of trying to defraud them, but at the same time they could never produce any information at all to show that I ever ordered or received the receiver.

At first I refused to pay the invalid charges, but they threatened to cut off my service if I did not pay for the equipment they never installed in my house and that I would have to pay another $50 fee to get it reconnected. They also charged me late fees for not paying for the equipment I never received. I finally sent an email of complaint to their legal department and then received a response from someone in the "President's Office". She said she would look into the situation. About a month went by and I never heard back.

Instead of hearing back from them, in November I received a bill for $50 for removal of the receiver that was never installed! I called them to complain about this newest act of stupidity, and at this point, I contacted the NC Attorney General's consumer office to complain. A couple of weeks later, by "coincidence" the lady from the DTV president's office called back to say that they would refund the charges. They sent an explanation saying that they had a signed receipt from someone whose signature was completely illegible. They then stated they would refund the charges as an "accommodation", but they never acknowldeged any error or made any apology. It took 5 months to get them to

A few days later when I talked with a neighbor, I told him of my dispute and he then told me he had had a receiver installed in June at his place. Suddenly the whole picture seemed to fall into place. Not only is this company very hard to deal with, they are completely incompetent. There were so many easy ways for this Company to verify that the receiver was never installed at my place, but they were never willing to do a single thing.instead they treated me like a thief.

I also asked DTV to correct any negative reports to my credit, but they have completely failed to respond to this request. This is a completely horrible company that has horrible customer service. Something should be done about them and I would be happy to join in a consumer class action against them for their dirt-bag tactics. A plague on their house!!!
