My future mother in law (retired & living on a fixed income) saw an ad in the Oct. 29 San Antonio Express paper for "Marvel Fleece Lined "comfort slippers". She cut out the order coupon, filled in to order three (3) pairs, attached a check for $29.70 as per order pricing instructions, and mailed the order via U.S. Mail.
Like all the other complaintants on this site she made numerous phone calls, wrote letters, etc. With no success in receiving what she had paid for (of course the check has long since been cashed). Checking the BBB I find that the company is actually a Canadian company with over 2300 complaints with little or no response to them from J.D. Marvel and that the mail box where orders are sent to is only a mail drop box. The BBB can not do anything about and they advise writing "Competition Bureau Industry Canada Dept. 721-109 Box 3270, Champlain, NY 12919 and 358 Isabey, Ville St. Lawrence, QC H4R 2G9". Of course I've posted a complaint with the NY BBB.
In emailing them several times I sometimes get a response from a "Pauline" just stating they are looking in the the issue and she has requested the missing slippers to be sent shortly —BUT THEY NEVER ARRIVE.
