A common story with DirecTV, probably with other satellite providers as well so be careful. You do not need to sign anything with this company to be obligated in a contract! As with others I have read about concerning DirecTV, accepting anything from DirecTV obligates you to some extended time frame or you will pay when and if you decide to cancel service. It does not matter how long you have been a customer, accept some kind of up grade in service and you will be locked in to a one or two year contract! My daughter was a customer for 6 years and also paid $6.00 per month for a maintenance contract. Her satellite boxes quit working. She asked for new ones. "I'm sorry miss but the boxes you have are obsolete, we will need to send you upgraded boxes." Sounded OK to my daughter and she needed the boxes to have her satellite service. She changed services a year later and was charged $76.00 for cancel of contract. A contract she didn't even know she had! There is no customer satisfaction with DirecTV, so be carefull.
