I originally submitted my child to Kids Talent Network for consideration in October. After a couple of canned emails "from" Alex (Simon) I spoke with Renee on the phone. We decided to go for it even though it was a lot of money. The concept of a website marketed to agents sounded conceivable and we decided to give it a try.
I'll admit I really try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I was aware there was not a large market for child models here in Las Vegas, but we were willing to travel as needed. Every 3 months or so I would send in new photos to update my child's website. I would get a response from someone letting me know that the site had been updated.
I sent new photos on 10/27/09 and did not hear a peep back. I re-sent them and waited a bit longer. Like I said, I really try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I finally called to find out what the hold up was. I was informed the only person who could answer questions for me was Alex Simon and he was not in the office and the person answering the phone had no idea when he would be back in. His voicemail was also full, so the most I could do was leave a message with the person who answered the phone. Needless to say, I never heard back.
On 11/30/09 I went to check my child's KTN website on the off-chance it had been updated. Not only has it NOT been updated, it has been HACKED!
I tried phoning again on 11/30/09 after finding my child's hacked site and they answered the phone as "Model Republic." Apparently they're merging or changing their name altogether. Again I was given the same run-around and no one can answer my questions. I asked if this was happening to a lot of other people there and the person put me on hold and came back and told me I could only leave a message or try back tomorrow.
At this point I guess I have to admit I'm a gullible pushover who is way too trusting. Believing people are good and will do what they promise has gotten me scammed out of 600 bucks. I really don't know how people can do this to others and still live with themselves. Hopefully this information I posted will help someone else avoid the same situation. If anyone else has been through this and has some advice on a breach of contract suit, please let me know!
