Melissa presented herself to me as a new upcoming trainer who was just getting her license and was assistant trainer to a few and had references. Apparently the references were forged. She and I entered into a written agreement wherein we would split 50/50 on purses, I retained ownership, she paid all expenses, etc. No where was she to have any ownership authority whatsoever. End of June, we talked about someone being interested in my black QH stallion and she was going to take him to her place to be conditioned and sold and we were gonna use the money to put toward training of the 2 yr olds. At the time she picked up the stallion, she also took my maiden mare to put her back into training to see if we could make some extra cash with her. The same agreement to be in effect as the 2 yr olds, however, it was only confirmed by email. The mare did run in Sept under another trainer. At the end of the race, the trainer signed out the papers and gave them to Melissa to give to me. She did not. Upon our rescue of these horses in November, she tried to put her name on the papers for one of the 2 yr olds, and managed to not have the maidens papers. She also allowed the 2 yr old colt to breed the maiden mare upon her arrival at her farm in July. She also had my exercise saddle/racing bridle/blinkers/polos/standing wraps/4 blankets and more which have also come up missing. If you go to Happy Trails rescue sight, you can pull up the news feed for the removal of the other 11 horses. There is much more but I cannot fit it on here.
