I had a seasonal merchant services acct with Sterling Payment Technologies of Tampa FL for three years (inactive mid-April through mid-Jan). They routinely charged me annual security fees which were not specified in our contract and when the fee reached $80 @ year I cancelled my contract. These fees were deducted automatically from my bank acct even though my merchant services acct was inactive (between tax seasons).
It became utterly impossible to budget my monthly costs while doing business with this unscrupulous firm. I forwarded, via fax, a signed termination notice and specifically withdrew any right to automatically debit any sums from my bank acct. Nevertheless Sterling thereafter authomatically withdrew, without notice of any kind, a termination fee of $395 from my account. This fee was also never specified in our contract, was imposed without prior or subsequent notice. But for my bank stmt I'd never know what had happened.
DON'T DO BUSINESS with these people. You will regret it.
