Beware Of Continental Finance and their Insurance Company!

I received an application forunemployment insurance in May09 through email. I applied for the insurance &the site said I would be enrolled. Weeks later I contacted Continental toquestion the insurance & open a claim. The first rep I spoke to argued thatI did not receive an email. After forwarding the original emails to them theytried to help me open a claim with the insurance company. At this time myaccount was current and not past due. A rep contacted the insurance company withme on conference call. The insurance company guaranteed that the claim would beopened & back dated to the original date of the application. For four monthsI contacted Continental who said they were doing everything they could to getthe matter handled quickly. They made calls as well as I did to the insurancecompany. Then after months the insurance company said they decided they werentgoing to honor the insurance even though they initially said they would. ThenContinental said that they would send a request to the compliance department& ask them to freeze the account for 6 months & remove all of the overthe limit fees & late fees. The rep assured me they would look at thecountless notes, & take the situation into consideration. I found outyesterday that they were also not willing to do anything except offer me asettlement on the full balance which is mostly over limit fees & latefees. After almost 5 months of going back and forth, doing everything they asked& being extremely patient I was no further than I was months ago. Continentalhas done nothing they said they would & neither has their insurancecompany. After all the fees they charge you just to get this card to establishcredit you would think they would help you somewhere along the way. I openedthis card to establish credit when I was employed. An unforeseen layoff is thereason I cannot afford the payment. I enrolled in the insurance for this reason, no where did the application or site say I had a waiting period. I was neverlate one payment until this point.
Beware of "Lots" the insurance company. Beware of the high maintenance fees. There are better ways to establish credit!
