Ripoff deceptive advertising, bait n switch None of the listings in the newspaper were in the published list we just were handed

While looking for a new residence through papers and websites, I came across several listings referring me to 708-653-3341 as a contact. When I called the number I got Apex Publications. They said they offer a list service that for $75 would be refunded 100% if in 75-90 days I could not find a unit. I made an appointment to talk to Glen who explained the service.

Being in a crunch for time, I decided to go with the service based mostly on the quality of the listings they had in the newspapers as they wouldnt show their list unless you signed onto their service. My girlfriend and I scurried off to start the search when we noticed that none of the listings in the newspaper were in the published list we just were handed. Nevertheless we kept on looking at one bad deal after another.

We finally decided to call it a day and start out fresh the next morning, going to the company website to get a new list early Sunday morning. The website would not take the password/user id.

I noticed even more listings in the Sunday paper with the Apex phone number. No full address just areas in and around the city.

Monday early, still no online access and more Apex listings in the paper. Finally after calling and getting busy signals and out-of-service messages, I did get through about noon and 'Bill' assured me it would be ok soon. 14:00 I got online but none of the really tasty listings from the paper were on the new list.

I went to the office for a face-to-face with Glen who gave me a song and dance about the listings in the paper being sent out only once a week on Tuesdays and that some were compilations of listings (generic) and the only one that was up to date was the list from the website. The headquarters handle the ads but he was unwilling to give me the address or phone number to that elusive headquarters. The ads in the paper did not have an exact residence attached to them but were composite of what might be available at any given time.

I dont feel that ad stating $650/mo 3bdrm, 2bath full bsmt, gar, w/d, option to buy, Section8 welcome, others from $500 is generic. It's bait and switch at best, worse outright fraud.
