My mother is 80 years old and resides in a nursing home. She has her own telephone in her room. I received her last phone bill and there was an additional charge of $21.32. A business called The Billing Resource provided the billing on Talent and More.
The telephone bill had the following language on it: This portion of your bill is provided as a service to the company identified above. There is no connection between CenturyTel and this company. If you have any questions concerning this section of your bill, please call the number listed above.
First of all, CenturyTel has to have some sort of agreement with this company — in order to allow them to do their billing. I certainly do not think I can call CenturyTel and ask them to bill someone on my behalf.
I called Talent and More and asked what this charge was for. It was to allow e-mailing and downloading of pictures — specifically for models who want to do their runway pictures.
I told the woman that my mother was 80 years old and in the nursing home and I really didn't think she would be doing any runway pictures.
She told me she would look up who authorized the charge. Well, low and behold, it was authorized by her husband — too bad he passed away six years ago. I told her that was impossible since I really didn't think he authorized it from the grave.
I was told they would refund my money — however, it would take two to three billing cycles to get it reversed.
I have the feeling I will not be receiving a refund.
