I have gotten quite a few calls from "Credit Services" saying they can lower my credit card interests rates, and to press one to end the call or nine to speak to a rep. THESE ARE SCAM CALLS, trying to get your credit card information.
ONLY THE COMPANY THAT ISSUED YOUR CARD CAN LOWER YOUR RATES. I always press nine and inform the caller that I am turning over their phone number to the authorities. If you use *69, you will get the phone number, but will not be able to call back due to the phone number is no longer in service or disconnected. I use my computer to do a reverse lookup and find out what area the call is coming from. Most come from Florida, ex. Smyrna Beach, FL. You can then log onto the city's chamber of commerce and send an e-mail letting them know that one of their citizens are attempting to commit fraud and give them the phone number. (If you ask these scammers which card they are wanting to lower, they won't name one, cause they are waiting for you to give it to them). Once I tell them what I'm going to do with their phone number, I get cussed out, but it's worth it to help try and shut them down and limit the phone numbers they are able to use.
