Just Energy does not inform contractor that a credit check will be ran on each applicant. As a contractor we do not inform potential customers that a credit check will be ran in order for their service to be switched. We also do not inform customers that their bill will be higher than what they are paying at the time of application. According to the Illinois Attorney General's office, we are required to inform customers that their next bill will be higher If in fact it will be. Contractors just tell customers that they will receive a welcome letter. That is misleading to a customer if they believe they will be enrolled when in fact if their credit is not good enough they will be denied, and the contractor will not be paid for their application. Each applicant should contact the Illinois Attorney general's Office before completing an application.
