I posted a camera on craigslist to fundraise for a breast cancer research marathon I would be participating in a few days. The following morning I received an e-mail from a so called Tim Howard stating that he was interested in the camera.
I replied immediately stating that the camera was still available and asked for his location. Mr. Howard claimed to live in Utah but would be leaving to London in 4 days and that he was purchasing this camera for his son who was in Africa researching an oil company. I immediatley became suspicious because I'm in California. Why would anyone want to purchase something off of craigslist that is not local???
Anyhow, I continued to correspond with him until we agreed that he would donate $250 to my fundraising page after I shipped the cammera and provided a tracking number.
I didn't feel comfortable with that and insisted on him donating the money first. So then I "agreed" and asked for his son's name and mailing address so that I could figure out how much shipping would cost me.
He replied with the info and I immediatley googled him and found him on this site!!! I sent him an email with the link of the report I found and asked that if the article was not true and he was still interested to please donate the money immediatley so that I may send him his camera.
He never replied!!! So now I am certain that it was scam!!
