A year or so ago a friend of mine subscribed to a magazine. They offered her another free subscription to a friend, which was me. I received the magazine for the year.
Now I have just received a bill from them on my Amex card. Which certainly surprises me even more since I never gave them my account number.
Amex has filed a report and is investigating it, but was having a difficult time finding information on them.
This is fraud.
