Like other reports from this company they seem to be the first when you google turtles for sale. I wanted to purchase a small Tortoise. I live in California. Called this place 5-27-09 spoke with "JIM" (seems he is the only one there) and placed order for (2) Hermann's Tortoise's. After reading about them, I wanted to just order (1) called him back within 1 hr of the same day call and he stated that he would credit our account. He took the info over the phone credit debit card cause he said (red flag) that the internet orders are full up. So when I correctd the order I assumed that he would credit the additional tortoise and ship me one.
Today is 5-29-09 and still not credit yet he took out the full amount of the order on 5-27-09 of 422.81. I called e mailed (failed) comes back and finally called again today and cancelled the entire order. He said I could not do that and sent me a confirm of the order showing (2) Tortoise wrong e mail address and wrong shipping address. I told him since I was in the 5 day cancellation notice I am cancelling entire order.
Then he hung up on me and I called back. After much research I was informed that you cannot ship baby Hermann's Tortoise's across to California? Illegal? Everytime I called I heard childern in the back ground. No one else never answered the phone except "JIM" of which I felt was very strange.
I have since filled a claim with our bank to get the entire amount credited. He tried to use our card again and we changed the card, he informed me via e mail that the bank had vertifed the address and amount.
No bank would do that.
It is unforuate that there are companies like this. Please do yourself a big de-stressor do not buy anything from this place. It is a rip off and I feel that they either are selling illegal turtles and tortoise and getting them from illegal sources.
Please do not order anything, if you need or want a tortoise go buy one in person, just like the other on this site you would probably not get the turtle or tortoise that you wanted. Who is to say you could even get a snapping turtle from them and not know of it. They charge over and above the freight and I do not know what the animals look like when received. They should be closed up and the USDA OR THE AGRICULTURE DEPT SHOULD BE NOTIFIED.
I feel any animal from this place could be sick or ill also. Again it seems very strange that they take your card info call your bank and charge you for something you haven't received or ordered and even cancelled.
Beware of this company, I hope they can get off google search engine.
