I was preparing to move from Largo, Florida to Augusta, Ga on June 3. I sent out several request for estimates for this move. One company that responded to me and offered me a quote of $1600 to move my things. That was the best quote so I was gonna let them move me but a few days after receiving their quote, I received an email from a company who said they could offer me the same quote plus send me moving material. So I listened to their sales person Loany Velasques, she told me they would do a good job for me and guarantee everything, so I sent her an inventory list of the items that I had to be moved. She gave me the same quote as the other company, so I told her we could go ahead and schedule the move for June 3. A few days later my wife and I found out that we could keep my fathers hospital bed which had not been included on the original inventory list so I contacted Loany and told her there were some more things that we needed to add to the list. She said ok and added them.
These additional items raised the price of the move to $1740, which we agreed to pay. We even explained to Loany that we had some items in storage that needed to be picked up and she said that would be no problem and that would be included in the $1740 quote. She also told us that they would wrap our beds and sofa in blankets and that there would be no additional charge for that, she said it was included in the quote for $1740.
We were also told the movers would be there at our apartment on June 3 at 800 AM because we had to get everything out of the storage facility before 2Pm.
The day of the move the movers showed up, they were late, they did not meet us until almost 1PM, we were able to get the things out of storage before 2pm but we had a problem. From the beginning the driver had an attitude problem, he made a profanity comment and said it would take a F&ing fork lift to move the things from storage, I spoke up and told him to not to use that kind of language to lets get the things and go to the house and settle it there. So we did. When we got to the apartment he starting trying to raise the price of the move, he had the original list for $1600 and did not have the revised list of the things that we had added. I explained to him that his list was outdated and that there were more things that were not on his list. I told him to call his company and have them fax him an updated list. He tried to say the move was gonna cost $3000 instead of the $1740 that they had originally quoted. I refused to pay it and they took my things from the moving truck and unloaded them and left. I was able to get a friend and his son to move me so we rented a UHaul and did the move our selves. Please do not use Globus Van lines as your moving company, they are liars, cheats and crooks, who say one thing and does something else. It looks like I am gonna have to sue them in small claims court to get my deposit back. They claim to be members of the BBB, but I do plan to file a report with them also.
