Over Charging

South Central Power Co.in Ohio is out of contral and they are a non-profit Co. That rips people off. The FTC can't help you with, due to a very old law made back in the 1930's. PUCO is no help for the same reason. They don't even have to buy your power back, like from wind, or the sun. I have told them for years now that my elecric bill is wrong. There is no way that a 525 sq ft cottage can use $250.00 worth of electric per month, that only has 8 light and two window air units. But they keep charging me.

I have had them out time and time again and it's always the same answer, nothing wrong on there end, you must use electric heat. Funny they would say that! I don't have electric heat. The bill always goes up $50.00 to $100.00 around Dec, Jan, Feb, March of every years. We have LP gas heaters and we are not at home as much in the winter months as we are the rest of the year. June, July and Aug every year we have RV'S pluged in and all the lights on at night and we cook alot, the family is all togather.

You would think the the bill would be higher in the summer months, with the AC running and two or three RV's pluged in with their airs running and so on, but not with South Central Power Co. They over charge you in the Winter months and if you don't pay they disconnect you, They know people wil pay in the winter to stay warm. So people pay the bill not to be disconnect. I built a new home on the property and had to pay $2500.00 to have them run poles and wires to the temp pole. After I paid them, it took almost a year to get them back out to install the poles and wires to the temp poleand install the meter, so I could use a saw or light, while building the home.

Winter months of the temp meter cost me over $1100.00 dollars for the months of Dec, Jan, Feb a temp pole! That just crazy! That only has two outlets on it. They told me to pay or be disconnected. Winter started moving into the new home, and for the record, there are five fireplaces in the new home, 2 wood and 3 gas. I installed a new top of the line heatpump as back up heat only, set at 68 degrees. Did not have all the lights installed or the fans and I started get billed for 5000 KWH to 8000 KWH and we did not even sleep in the new home yet. The cottage is still getting over charged and I was paying the bills. HAD TOO.

So we moved into the new home and I did a little test to see just what kind of people and Company I'm dealing with here (South Central Power Company in Ohio) In late Jan I pulled the power meter out of the power panel and I sat it on the porch hand rail. I wrote yet another letter to South Central Power Co, in Ohio and called everyone I could, just to make sure everyone knows who I am and that I was not going to let them keep over charging me anymore for pwoer, more so for power I did not use. On March 13 @ 9:00 am we had a meeting, South Central Power and myself, armed with video cam in hand. They tested the meters and again told me the meters are working find. I told them, something most be wrong or if not your just over charging me.

I ask them how the meters are read and the details as to how that information gets to them. I already understood, but needed to have it on tape. The last meter checked is the cottage. I had reinstalled the meter the night before and they could tell it had been out. The question I ask was this, Why do I have a bill of $200.00 plus for the last two months. I was told, because you used the power! I ask how can this be? If the meter is pulled out and there is no power running though your meter, how can you read anything, and better yet how can I use power. I did not get a answer, but I did get told that I could go to jail for that.

I had to pay the power bill or be disconnected. They have me over the table and I'm working hard to let anyone that is on their lines, that there are other ways to power up and you don't have to take it. They disconnected my new house and I'm thinking about, pulling that meter too and mailing it to them. I think the only way I going to get this group to fix the problem and work this out, is I going to have to go to Jail and make contact with the news media. This is all going to blow up soon and I sure could use same feed back.

All I ever wanted was to pay for the KWH I use, no more no less. It don't work that way with this company.
