When I was in High School my mom was very strict about fake nails. She didn't like them because she's said they ruined you real nails, but after begging and pleading she allowed me to get fake nails for a High School dance. But she said she would prefer for me to get a silk wrap as opposed to acrylics. I went to Star Nails and told them I wanted a silk wrap for the dance that night. She asked if I had one before and I said "no". And she told me I was too young and they would start coming off in a couple of days. She said I should get acrylics instead. I told her no it's okay, I only need them for tonight and my mom doesn't want me to get acrylics.
After going back and forth like this for a while she finally said okay, and said something to the lady in the chair in her native language. This didn't surprise me because I've been getting my nails painted in shops for years. They did my nails, and charged me for a silk wrap. Please remember I had never seen a silk wrap before, nor had my mother.
The next morning I was surprised (and pleased with myself), that my nails were still intact after the conversation the day before. And a little over a week later they were still there, just with new growth (my nails grow REALLY fast). As the end of that week approached we had an event we were supposed to be at and I asked my mom if I could please keep the nails a little longer and get them touched up. She agreed, as long as I kept them up. So I went in, I saw the manager at the front again, showed her my nails and said "They actually lasted", she just smiled said something to another woman and told me to sit in her chair.
This time it was painful. I kept saying it hurt, and the lady said it was supposed to hurt. When I complained it didn't hurt last time she just said, "It will go away, it lasts about a day." The next Monday they still hurt so bad I went to another shop to take them off. The first woman couldn't even get them off, she had to call her manager. It took them almost an hour to pry those nails off (the first lady stayed watching). When they did you could see where my cuticles had been cut into from the last time they were put on.
When I went to complain the woman said "Too bad, I should have complained two weeks ago." I said I didn't know two weeks ago. And she told me that was my problem. When I said it was fraud, and she can't just give customers what she wants because they don't know the difference. Especially charge them for a more expensive procedure again she said, "If you didn't want them you shouldn't have paid for them." Again when I said I didn't know, she said that that's my problem and told me to leave her store.
