Hal Butler has been around the Nashville area for over 10 years now offering his classes for people to take the actuarial exams. Mr. Butler is careful not to make any written promises concerning actively trying to place his clients. Verbally, however, Mr. Butler strongly insists that he has will quickly place any candidate which passes the exam. He continues to insist even if the candidate states up front that he or she will not leave the Nashville area.
I passed the exam with a perfect score. Over the next 8 months it took me to find my own position, Mr. Butler did not find me a single lead or interview. I have talked to several other actuaries in the Nashville area who took Mr. Butler's class, they all have similar stories.
As far as I know, Mr. Butler has not placed a single candidate in or around Nashville. Furthermore, over the past several years, the company I work at has had several openings. Mr. Butler has not sent a single resume. He could have easily seen the positionw by checking the company website, or reading adds in the trade publications.
As far as I can tell, Actuarial Innovations' main business model is to offer exam classes.in order to fill seats, Mr. Butler verbally promises quick job placement for anyone who passes the exam, but I don't know any actuaries he has placed. On the other hand I know several actuaries who took his class and then found positions themselves.
