We had the puppy shipped from MARIAH AKITAS & BASENJIS and from the second we picked him up at the airport he was sick. He was vomiting, had diarrhea and his head was tilted.
We had a vet appt scheduled for the following day. The vet examined him and deemed him UNFIT FOR SALE. He was extremely dehyrated so they had to give him an IV, bloodwork, etc. We scheduled a 2nd appt two days later — there was little improvement. The dog wasn't eating and he was vomiting and still had diarrhea.
He was given another IV b/c he was still dehydrated. He was also given a steroid shot for his tilted head. If the steroid doesn't help, we'll have to get xrays, MRI which could be costly. We suggested that the breeder help us with the vet bills which are now at $550. She flat out refuses. She keeps telling us that he was fine when she put him on the plane. Which I find hard to believe. She pushed this dog on us. We wanted to purchase the female but she kept telling us the male would be better because he was more laid back. She also suggested that we put cottage cheese or canned pumpkin in his food b/c he would have diarrhea. So, that kind of tells me that he was sick in her care.
Because I asked her to pay for his vet bills, she now wants us to ship him back to her for a refund of what we paid. I tried to explain to her that the dog was too sick to fly but she doesn't care. Also, it makes no sense to me to give her the dog back and we're still out $550. We pay to get him well and then she can resell him (if she can?) It's now 5 days later and his head is still tilted - which could be a serious condition.
Do not ever purchase a dog online from anyone. It's just not worth it. I never thought this would happen to me. I was so naive to think this women was honest.
