I feel that USA Movers underbid the job to make the sale. I was very clear on my list of property to be shipped. USA movers estimated a total of 250 cu. Ft. To be the total size of the shipment. I disputed the size with the rep and told him all the other movers were estimating no less than 450 cu. Ft. And reminded him that
I had also boxes to ship. Eric, the sales rep told me not to worry about the small items and he only needed to know the large items. When all my property was finally loaded into the truck, I had a total of 750 cu. Ft. And my cost went up from $950 from the original estimate to $3,080. The driver had the pickup order in his hand that called for 250 cu. Ft. And should have realized then and advised me that my property was going to be 3 times the size of the order when shown which items to load into the truck.
After the truck was loaded and I was advised on the increase of the price, I asked the driver and assistance to return my property back into my apt. They threatened to charge me for loading/unloading time at $500 for the 5 hrs they would spend on this task and payment needed to be made on the spot.
At this point I was pressing for time since my apt. Lease was about to expire and didn't have the time to schedule shipping with another moving company. Under pressure, pressing for time and my desire to end this nightmare, the manager and I agreed I would pay a final total $2,300 of the $3,080 they were now charging.
Customer Service, March 4 Called USA Movers to find out if my property was safe after learning on the news and on the FBI website that they were being indicted for fraud, extortion and money laundering. They said my property was safe.
Delivery Issues, March 14 USA Movers, Inc. Has been closed and the owner is in jail according to Ms. Rivit. She called to ask me to remove my property from storage immediately. She told me I won't be refunded for any part of the $1,795 paid in advance. Delivery of my property was never completed.
