Our experiences with the store and with UPS Corporation were horrific. The simple truth is that a UPS employee stole our package contents. This was admitted by a UPS and two UPS/MBE representatives (the former Mail Boxes Etc.).
In dealing with the aftermath of that theft, we found the people at UPS Corporate and UPS/MBE to be rude, unprofessional, verbally abusive, and less than forthcoming with the facts. At first, they denied any wrongdoing, then when they were confronted with the fact the stolen gift card was used 3.4 miles away from the store the next day, they promised to help us.
Instead, what they did was prolong the situation by promising, but never delivering on a settlement, instead claiming that what was shipped was not covered by insurance. Funny, but they never said a word about that when they took and packed the items in the first place.
We experienced more than six weeks of stonewalling, failure to follow-up with us as they promised, and lots and lots of abusive treatment. One common tack they use is to simply talk over you as you're trying to talk—this was such a regular occurrence that it's hard to imagine this isn't either part of their training or simply part of the corporate culture. Trying to get a word in edgewise proved to be futile. One guy (who refused to give his name) threatened to hand up on me after telling me the situation was none of my business. I stopped talking, as he demanded, and then, his final words to me were, "Okay, that does it. I told you to be quiet."
The lesson we learned was basically never, EVER to trust UPS with shipping anything of value. For that matter, I will never do business with UPS again!
