In July we contracted with this JBC Remodeling and Mike Parker to remodel our home to accomodate my mother, who is wheelchair-bound. The contract stated that they were responsible for all permits, keeping the work site clean, and that all work would be done in 4-6 weeks.
We were contacted in September by the city that we violated city codes including debris from construction visible from the street and no permits were on file for this project. A stop work order was placed on the site until appropriate permits were approved, and architectural plans for the project were submited.By not filing permits in July, the conversion of the garage had to be undone to restore the garage to its original condition because the city had passed an ordinance in July preventing the conversion of a garage into a living space.
After the stop order was issued no more work was done to the house. There were statements by them that they still wanted the job and would resume work on the house. The latest such statement was made in December saying that work would resume January 5th and be finished by the end of February. All of our attempts to contact him since Jan 5th have had no response.
