I have been to Country Fresh Market in Springfield Missouri several times since it opened a few weeks ago. You constantly have to keep them honest by looking at the register while they are adding up your bill because what they have done every time (especially with the cigarettes) is charge more for an item than what they show on the price tags or as displayed in the store. This is done on purpose with intent to defraud, and I can tell you why. This happens EVERY time I go to buy cigarettes: The sign in the store reads "Grand Prix pack $1.71 plus tax". When you are at the register, all of a sudden it balloons up to $1.83 or some other higher amount, then tax is added on top of the higher amount. You can see all the taxes on the register display. It is done with the intent to defraud because consistently each time I bring this up to their attention, the clerk, no matter who it is, will then proceed to tell me something to the effect that "there's tax on cigarettes" even though I point out that the register rings up the higher amount, then adds tax on top. Now, after I stand there and argue for a couple of minutes, that same clerk will then proceed to tell me that the higher amount is the "correct" amount, and that they just haven't "changed the sign" to the correct amount yet. Well that excuse is good once or twice, but not every time, and especially not after the sign is actually changed with a higher price than before! - Then the register will ring up that same item at an even HIGHER price than the newly changed sign, and taxes are added on top of that, and the whole thing turns into a never ending complexity of them trying to rip you off! But, most of the time, if you argue enough to them (especially if there's other customers in line) they will manually change the price to reflect the advertised price on the sign - but not always! Sometimes a really stupid employee will stick to her guns, and insist that you pay what they tell you to pay, and that's the way it is. This policy bothers me, because most people just pay and don't ask questions. This company makes hundreds of extra dollars each day by purposely running this scam on it's customers. It is not the employee that pockets the extra money, it's the management of the company because it has everything to do with the way they advertise, and what prices they program into the registers.
