Green World signed a contract to provide laborers from our agency to help do some work at a newly built Olive Garden in San Antonio, Texas. After the invoices became delinquent and calls were made we were told by the owner that she had paid cash to a black man standing behind the counter. I reminded her that she had been informed that she was not to give payment to any workers per her contract as well as the payment information, which pertained mailing address, etc., where she was supposed to mail payments. Then she proceeded to mention that a plate had been broken by an employee because he was supposedly on crack and was told to go home and he was angry.
After further investigation (through speaking with one of the employees she kept and liked) we were told that the other employee was sent home because there were no tools at the jobsite to do any work and he also said no plate had been broken or stolen. He also told us she gave him money at the office but in the amount of $10 because she was supposed to buy him lunch and had forgotten.
We also spoke to our dispatcher and he said that he never received any money from her and oh, he's not black!
She sent me a copy of a receipt that had paid $60.00 in HER handwriting! We have receipts from a template in our office that we give and I print them out. I've never seen or met the owner of this company.
Her story has changed twice since the first time I spoke to her on the phone. She's been sent copies of delinquent invoices and has yet to pay.
