I have a friend that worked at McDonalds when he was young and during a conversation a few months ago he mentioned that he would over charge customers a bit more and pocket the money.By the end of the day, he would have a few hundred bucks. Today on 11-21-08 I went to a local McDonalds and ordered 2 triple cheese burgers $1.79ea and a large fries $2.29.
After I had paid and was given a receipt, I realized that they had charged me $1 more on the total. I questioned why and was given a bull$hit answer: IT IS TAX even though there was a section on the receipt showing that the tax was $. 48. I explained to the person that he didn't make sense and he then told me that the system was wring and that there was nothing he could do. I went inside and complained to the MGR. I did not because of the dollar but I wanted them to know that I picked up on there scam.
Think about this. If they take an extra $1 on every customer that stops in and they get an average of 500 customers on a good day, that is about $178,000 that someone is taking home illegally. Figured I would post my experience to see if anyone else had experience this or to warn people about this scam that has been happening for years.
