My son was locked out of the house so I called 24 hour locksmith in Peoria, AZ. I spoke to the dispatcher regarding fees that I would be incurring he explained that there was a $39.00 fee to go out to the location and depending on the lock type it would start at $15.00 and up. I specifically asked what the most I would be looking at for a charge on the lock fee and was told $50.00. I knew that the most that I could be spending would be $89.00.
When the locksmith arrived I asked my son to ask the locksmith how much it would to unlock the type of lock we had on the house. He asked the locksmith and was told it would be $50.00. I approved of that charge and after the locksmith unlocked the home he handed the paperwork to my son to sign. I was on the phone with my son and he said the paperwork said $149.00. I asked to speak to the locksmith because that was not the charge that was quoted. He told me that $149.00 was the total fee and it wasn't negotiable because the two companies were separate companies. He also said that it wasn't that much more.
I called back the initial number where I spoke to the dispatcher and was told to file a dispute in writing and mail it to the main office in Florida. I mailed my dispute and called the local number and was transferred to the main office. The main office was unwilling to give me any information other than they had responded to my dispute and I would be receiving it soon. I have still yet to receive a response and keep being told that I should be receiving one and there is nothing else they can do.
Things were starting to sound odd about this situation so I looked online and found similar complaints with others and this company. I started to wonder if the lock fee I was quoted of $50 was just another part of the scam. I have already disputed the charge with my credit card company but my hope is that this company gets recognized for their bad business practice.
