My wife signed up for a 7-day "free trial" of the RealtyTrac web services. If not canceled within 7 days, there would be a charge of $49.95. After spending less than an hour looking at the information available, she determined that the service was not worthwhile. She canceled immediately, expecting that there would be no charge.
When the charge showed up on the credit card statement, there was a charge of $49.95. My wife called RealtyTrac which promised to provide the refund. They did refund the charge, but they said we would probably see another charge of $49.95 to be followed by another refund.in the end, we had two charges of $49.95 and three refunds of $49.95. However, we also had a new charge of $39.95 appear from Real Estate Promoter (www.realestatepromoter.com) in Orem, Utah. We never had any dealings with this company.
We are attempting to get a refund on the Real Estate Promoter charge, but have not yet been successful in reaching them. We left a message on their voicemail and are waiting for a return call. Our credit card company (Bank of America) indicated that it has had other complaints filed about these two companies.
