I was contacted by this firm regarding a recently deceased relative. They are looking to collect on an old debt that was discharged in her bankruptcy filing at the start of her battle with terminal cancer. They feel they had enough info on the debt to assume it was valid but didn't know how to or didn't care to research further to actually see the creditor was included in the Chapter 7 bankruptcy plan and discharged. They get by with the guise to speak to someone about the probate of the will. If they know so much, they would realize this estate didn't merit probate. It is not up to me to make sure they have the information as the court has served notice to any one that was listed. I hope no one else has to be subject to this kind of torment in the name of collecting on old debts.
