I applied for a job through GUARDSMARK at an investment firm with a large local office. I was told there was a supervisors position available with rapid pay increases. The hiring process was obviously being dragged out (first tip off). At the on site interview with the current supervisor I was told that there was no position currently available, and that plans for expansion had been placed on hold or been delayed. It was his opinion that only non supervisory positions would be available when and if they expanded and not for at least several months. The office never told me any of this and wanted to continue having me come in twice a week ad infinitum.
I have also found that almost all security jobs offered through CRAIGSLIST are for positions that are being bid on by contracts not yet accepted. Everyone who has put in a bid tries to line up officers in advance (all the while telling you the position is available NOW) so if they get the contract they can fill the posts immediately.By applying at numerous companies you may be vying for the same job through each of them and still never get it if the contract goes to a company not yet posting the position. I realized this only after milking information bit by bit at each office.
