Still ripping off consumers

Half.com's buyer protection policies are looking pretty bogus to me. I've had two incidents of gross misrepresentation of book quality by sellers (dopatbooks and swifttheredfox). Both listed the books in question as being very good... Both were junk, a number of defects were never mentioned.

Following Half's policies, I contacted the sellers. Both were indifferent to the discrepancy. Needless to say, no resolution there. Dopatbooks reply was that things happen when you list a lot of books. I had to file a claim for this and now it's caught in Half's bureacratic footdragging. I've been told the best I can hope for is a refund of the purchase price IF I return the book. I will not be reimbursed for shipping either way (to recieve it or to return it), nor for my time, gas, etc.

The second one is even worse than the first. I believed I was getting a book in very good condtion. I recieved a book that was in two pieces and held together only by what was left of the binding, and a cover that looks like it has been chewed on, peeling corners, and deep gouges. According to Half's quality standards this book shouldn't have even been listed for sale.

For some reason, I can't file a claim on this. The option is not there. I have contacted Half.com customer service 4 times. Each time I get something back telling me what the procedure is. I don't expect this will ever be resolved in my favor.

Buyer protection policy? I think not. More like a mis-named seller protection policy.
