We took our dog to stay at the Lone Oak Kennel for approximately 5 days. When we picked up our dog his hair was falling out and he had a severe rash. We immediately took him to the vet. The vet said that this definetly developed while at the kennel and was either negligence or the cleaning procedure that was being used. She further stated that it had to have started earlier than the day that we picked him up and that they should have saught medical attention for him. Further we were charged $2 extra per day for him to be walked and they admitted not walking him at least one of the days and did not offer to refund that charge. When dropping the dog off it was explained on how he was a former Humane Society dog that we had adopted and was under weight and in need of more food than normal. We provided the exact amount of food and gave directions as to what to give him and when. We were given half the food back when we picked him up and the dog had lost several pounds while there. Lone Oak admitted not following the directions and only giving him 1.5 scoops rather than 3 per meal. Between the vet visit and medicine the bill was around $250. I patiently tried to point out to the kennel owner that with proper care we would not have had the vet bill and that I felt that they should reimburse us for it. When she initially did not I provided a letter from the vet explaining what I stated above were her thoughts. The best that the kennel offered was to pay half and now at this point will not return calls. We have since used the Karnick Inn with outstanding results. Be very careful using Lone Oak Kennels! Use Karnick Inn.
