Fradulent and misleading "job interview"

I am so angry at Trans Con for the ordeal that my boyfriend and I recently had to go through. He got an e-mail from them yesterday after posting that he was looking for a job on a job search website. The e-mail said that they reviewed his CV and thought he would be a 'great asset' to their staff.

The woman who wrote the e-mail saked if he could come in to their Carlsbad office for an interview the following day at 10am. She apologized for such short notice, but 10am today was the only opening they had for weeks.

She also knew about my boyfriend's circumstances because he had corresponded with her once when she asked why he had put 'other' as his place of residence on the application. He is a British citizen looking for some work here in the states. She said that if he got a job there, they would work something out about getting a visa.

Well, we drive the 70 miles down to Carlsbad, and my boyfriend was angered to find that it was not a personal one-on-one interview, but it was a seminar of 15 people. But since we had come so far, he stuck it out anyway, and at the end of the seminar, he got offered a scouting job, with all of the piddly commissions and one month probationary period.

When he asked about what they would arrange about getting his working visa, the woman who ran the office said 'Oh, I don't know anything about those. You'll have to get it yourself.' WHAT?!? And the 'salary' was not even mentioned until AFTER they had all had their lunch break and found out who out of the 15 had made the cut.

I suppose because if they actually revealed what crap it is, many would just walk out. I am so angry and frustrated that we were lied to. Trans Con is just a scam, they are deceptive from the very beginning.

What upsets me most is that they got my boyfriend's hopes up about a one-one one interview, and it turned out to be some lame recruting seminar. But I am relieved that he had the sense to see it for what it was and turn the job down, and now we are going back to the UK happy in knowing that we haven't sold our souls out to the devil.
