I recently received my bill and am being charged an early cancellation fee of $137.00 which somehow works its way down to now $111.30. Not sure how the total changes but either way it is wrong. I refuse to pay it. I will pay up to the full monthly price of the package, $68, but no more!
When I signed up for my package it was a $49.99 package for 12 months. I still have the flyer from a year ago. I had the service for a year and called in May to find out when the end of my contract was. I was told by the customer service rep it was the end of June when the contract was up. I called again the beginning of June to confirm when my contract was up. This customer service rep told me June once again and also added I could stay with the package I have for $10 more a month charge and the second month would be $20. The price would go to the normal price per month after that. I just figured I would cancel by the end of June and be done with it.
Then I receive my bill and have an early cancellation fee. When I called to find out who I talk to about the situation I got an address to write to. What good is that? Mail takes for ever to reach where its going and probably has to go through several sets of hands before reaching where it might need to go.
I want this matter taken care of before I have bad credit. I did not have any problems with Directv it is just too expensive without a package deal. We were never ONCE informed this package was a TWO year contract due to a DVR upgrade, otherwise we would not have done it. If it it were a two year contract why in the world does the price drastically change after a year? The cost of the package should stay the same for TWO YEAR CONTRACT. Right?
Obviously there are a lot people are not informed about this when ordering Directv for the first time. Such as a 'free' magazine that you'll be charged for after 3 months, or that you will be charged hundreds of dollars if you decide to cancel the account. Or people were told they would be getting a package for so much per month, end up getting charged for something completely different, and if they want to change to the original offer, that cannot be done and they have to get a package at a regular price.
Make any sense I did not think so either!
So they called today after I emailed them and said they flyer makes no difference it is just a flyer... Yeah so where do I go now?
