Unathorized credit card problem. Unsatisfactory customer service

I went to Lenscrafters for a new pair of eye glasses. The girl asked me if I wanted to apply for a "Discount" (later to learn it was a deceptive way to describe a credit card.) She started asking me all these questions. Finally it dawned on me she was filling in a credit card application and I told her in no uncertain terms I didn't want a credit card.

I told her to cancel that off her computer and she said she did. I asked her more than once because I didn't see her click out of the page, but it appears that all she did was lower the information down to her task bar. When I left, it appears she sent the application in. A week later I get a credit card in the mail... With my credit approved for $2,500.

Needless to say I was very upset about this. I called the store and they gave me a 1-800 number to call customer service. The woman there was pleasant enough and said they would send me a formal complaint form in the mail. Never got it. What I did get was a Thank-you very much for your concern and big brush-off letter from GE Money Bank, the credit card company. Then to make matters worse, it says feel free to contact us at the toll free numnber on your billing statement. (which I don't have... Duh!)

I located the 1-800 number I originally got and now all I get is some guy who can't speak English and lives in India. I hate outsourcing. Don't American companies understand this yet? We want to speak to a person in our own country, who we can understand. He has no way to let me speak to a supervisor unless I wait by the phone for 24-48 hours. Are they kidding me?

He has no idea who the president of the company is, and no phone information so I can speak to corporate headquarters... Which who knows where that is located... What is it, a big State Secret?

Then the guy says, do I want to do feedback? This has to be a joke. I told him I'd let him know about feedback when this is all over, but since we are in the middle of all this, no way I'm doing feedback at this point. At least that is what I think he was asking me. Most of the call I had to make him spell things so I could understand.

There has to be a better way of doing business with Lenscrafters, a company that wants repeat business. Because at this point, I will go anywhere else before I ever go there again. I'm not sure they can legally send in a credit card application when I verbally told them NO and even explained why I didn't want it.

Further more, who in their right mind would want a credit card from them when their interest rates are 21.99% (that is not the penalty for being late, that is the normal rate!) I have a very high FICO score... So why the extreme interest rates?

So my complaint is two fold:

1. Unathorized credit card sent to me.
2. Poor customer service... Actually none at this point. No satisfaction. No action will be taken for an employee who is doing this sort of scam and will probably do it to others. Do they get a bonus for every one they sign up for a Lenscrafters credit card? This is fraud, especially the way she worded it and didn't disclose it was a credit card until I asked her point blank.

I saw above, where someone said Lenscrafters would gladly help someone if only they just called them. Tell me a good number to call your corporate headquarters and I will... I feel like I've been given the run-around by Lenscrafters. Why make it so hard to reach you if you have nothing to fear?
