I was contacted by Gold Crown in early 2008. They called several times, wanting to list my property for sale. They told me what my property would be worth, and went into great detail about how they list properties, how quickly they sell them, etc... A great presentation. We said that we would list our property, as we had grown bored with it.
They said that contracts would be arriving in the mail for us to sign, and they propmtly charged our credit card for $1496.00. We did not receive any contract, so we tried to contact them. We could not get anyone with the numbers we were given. So we contadted our credit card company, telling them that we never received the contracts, and they removed the charge. Shortly thereafter, we received a very irate call from Gold Crown.
We explained that we had not received the contracts, and the Gold Crown guy spewed and blustered, saying that the contracts had been mailed, that he was in charge of a multi-million dollar company, and more or less accused US of trying to rip HIM off! He wouldn't let me speak, but kept interrupting and screaming, so I told him that he was being rude, and I had had enough of it, and hung up.
A month later, the charge was again on our credit card statement. We called the credit card company, and they told us that Gold Crown had responded, and told them the work (I suppose a 'listing' of sorts) had already been done, even if we had not received the paperwork. So the charge was again placed on our account. I had already made the payment on the card while on vacation and did not have the statement with me, or I would not have paid it, but it was too late. Basically, the credit card company told me that when there was a dispute, the vendor was going to get the money, not the consumer, and that I would have to sue the vendor to get my money back. This is grossly unfair, and I told the credit card company so, but they insisted that their hands were tied.
I really think the credit card company would have tried harder if I had not already paid off my balance (as I do every month). So, I checked Gold Crown's site, to find an ad for my property... I found nothing. If the 'work had been done', as they said, I should have found a listing for my property, but there was none.
