Metro PCS
In this case, you truly do "get what you pay for"

I signed onto Metro PCS because of the savings. But when I started to use my phone for long distance, it would be an on or off signal quality. Also, right from the very start, the hands-free was useless with any calls (local or long distance) because of the very poor quality of sound.

So I talked to the manager at the said location and he gave me the run around on sending the phone back to the company, then someone else came out and said that there would be a shipment of new phones. I had a bright idea! I said, well why can't I just upgrade for the difference in phone cost and have you send the phone back for me. This was not an option.

In total I went back to the store 5 different times (this store was the only one that I could get handled because it was the "corporate office"), to handle this problem along with other problems as discussed below.

So, "No contracts" right? Well... They don't tell you that they will not switch over to a new service until you contract is fully paid up. So I was stuck in the middle of a phone switch cycle, having already started with a new phone service, waiting for them to switch over the service to my new phone company.

Y'know the normal basis whereby someone switches over and they have a new phone and that's it. Well, I was carrying around two phone with me. The Metro PCS phone was my receiving phone, and my new phone company phone was my outgoing calls. What a pain! And this was never explained to me that this would occur. Finally the next day AFTER my Metro PCS plan expired, I was now able to use my new phone for both receiving and calling.

Oh, lastly, I had about $50 on my Metro PCS account for extra calling on long distances when I switched over. The service rep at the Corporate office said, "Non refundable".

Opinion: Metro PCS marketing is clever because they get you to join on saving a bit of money with the enticement of unlimited calls. But what is the quality of the calls? What are the hidden costs of little services (I wondered why I couldn't take a picture and send it my email, 'well, that's an extra charge)? Please, whoever is reading this, it's not worth the hassle. Watch your minutes and stick with what works.
