Another Moving Company Scam ripoff swindlers

I hired Yahoo Moving and Storage in May. At time of pick up, a contract was drawn with a due balance of $977.05 ($200.00 had already been paid as deposit). After the company had my items in its possession, they began to change prices on me.

After much negotiation, they agreed to deliver my items on 5/29/02. Upon delivery, one of the movers showed up with an altered contract, which I never signed, demanding $1,800. I refused to pay that amount and to sign a release form. Some of my items were already damaged. I was physically assaulted by one of the movers and an arrest was made.

The company at this time took back my items and have since then kept them hostage, against motor carrier regulations. Since May, I've made several attempts to retrieve my items including but not limited to hiring a lawyer, contacting Department of Transportation, local and national organizations and media. Yahoo Moving and Storage never provided me with solid information about my possession's whereabouts or conditions. Their business tactics are unprofessional and inconsistent.

On my last attempt to regain my items, arrangements were made on 10/24/02. Delivery date changed from 10/30/02 then to 11/1/02 to 11/3-4/02. I was told that I'd receive a call 24 hours prior to delivery. There were several failed attempts to contact the driver assigned to the job in order to make proper arrangements.

Movers from another company (Nationwide according to the driver), not associated with Yahoo Moving and Storage, from my knowledge, showed up unannounced on 11/7/02 while I was away from home and left a message that they would redeliver on 11/9/02. They made another demand for $1,800 and specified cash.

Then they asked for postal money orders, once again changing their minds and requesting cash again, refusing any other type of payment. Manager/owner (Sean or its variation) called me yelling and cursing. Feeling threatened, I called for a police escort, who spoke to "Sean" and again the company failed to deliver my items.

I'm afraid that they'll try to get rid of my items. I'm battling lupus and myositis, I don't have the energy or much time to spare on this runaround. My holidays are being affected by this whole ordeal and I just want to end all this.
