I was a client of Brewer Caldwell back in 04. We cancelled service with Brewer becuase we were very dissatisfied with their service. I recently received a collection notice for an aleged debt from december 04.
I tried working with Brewer (Tom Caldwell-owner, directly) to resolve this. They could not provide any proof of my approval of one of the invoices (per our management contract, no work over $200 was to be started without prior approval).
The second invoice they claim we owe is an invoice that we approved and paid well in advance of the repairing of a window they say was broken. Unfortunately, their shoddy accounting didn't account for our pre-payment of the work, and their books were not updated until they received an invoice 6 weeks later from their vendor. Their vendor, by the way, is Kadeez management, owned (in part) by Tom Caldwell, the co-owner of Brewer-Caldwell.
I have offered to REPAY just the $307.25 for repairing the broken window (a charge that should not have been anywhere near even $200, though that is for another discussion), since they could not show any proof of my prior approval for another work order for over $900.
Tom flat out refused to compromise.
I do not know if they fabricated this $900 invoice or what, but I have no record of receiving any kind of pre-approval request, nor my written/verbal approval of the work.
Its a good thing I like Phoenix, so I can make a nice trip out of going out there to fight this in small claims.
If anyone else out there received an unfounded collection notice, PLEASE contact me. If they are also claiming you owe for service you cannot verify they performed, there might be cause for a larger action against Brewer-Caldwell.
