I can't believe I was deceived into going on an entire "field" day with one of these Multi-Level Marketing schemes. I went through a lot of the same things as the other reports filed on this company, so I'll try to leave much of that out.
So I saw the job posted on Career Builder mentioning things like, "entry-level position requiring no previous experience" and "helping kids", etc. But the biggest joke was the base salary listed, which was "$40,000 - $50,000." I'm sure the only reason they could declare this is based on some technicality. When I asked the girl who was interviewing me on our "field day" about this number, SHE even had an incredibly skeptical look on her face. I tried to have Career Builder investigate this as false advertisement, but they blew off the question and told me to take it up with the company.
As the other comments state, in the first interview, they make you feel like you really impress them and you feel honored because they say they are only taking a couple people out of the entire room full. But as long as you're willing and naive, they'll take you on your "field day" of a second interview. Val, who interviewed me, said that she might get in trouble for inviting me to a second interview without talking it over with the other manager there, but she invited me to the second interview anyway. These people all talk very fast and "big shot"-like, so you don't really have time to consider the fact that you have no idea what this company does. They don't want you to know until you've committed the time, and then they have a better chance of basically making you a short-term slave.
They DO tell you: how much money you could make as a manager, which is a completely unnaturally large sum of money. They make that much money because they have no conscience about the lives of the people whose time they are completely wasting.
They DO NOT tell you: their turnover rate, the exact amount you make, etc. They don't want you to know. You wouldn't want to be there if they told you. Duh! Like any other scam, they won't tell you anything negative until you've committed so much to it that there's a much better chance you'll just keep sacrificing more!
Another way I was duped into committing more time was that on this "field day" I was not told by Val that we might be outdoors during this 8 hours. Of course... I probably wouldn't have showed up if I knew this information. Duh! But we DID happen to be outside, and I wasn't prepared, so I was freezing. That is until I began to realize that this was a scam. Then I didn't really care anymore. I couldn't go back, because we were about 45 minutes away from the office, so I just walked around the grocery store we were at to warm up, and then hung out at Caribou Coffee for a few hours while this poor girl kept being ignored by annoyed people in the freezing cold. And... Since she didn't sell much that day, I'm sure she probably made less than minimum wage. And even though she had never been to this place, several people coming out of the store were saying, "you guys have been here too many days, " which could only mean Twin Cities Events had beaten this place to death with sales people. Just different ones every time. They could have at least paid for my lunch for wasting a day of my life, but they didn't do that either.
There are so many other things I despise about this place and others like it, but I'm sure I got my point across by now. If you see anything having to do with this company or companies just like it, please, in the name of ethical business, don't support them in any way.
