I called to make plane reservations for 9 travelers from Orlando to Detroit. The young lady ("VJ") assisted me and took all of the needed information. She quoted a price of $1,869.00 for the 9 travelers which I agreed to and authorized her to charge my American Express card. A few moments later I received an email confimation but it only included the names of 6 of the travelers and a price of $1,869. Minutes later I received a second confirmation for the additional 3 travelers but with a charge of $1,125.50.
I called Customer Service and spoke to a rep who would need to transfer me to "Group Flight Reservations" and then I was forwarded to a rep from Hotels.com. That individual then forwarded me to someone else at Hotels.com who gave me a number to call at Expedia and hung-up. I called the number (which happened to be Customer Service) and went through the loop again about who was able to help me - I ended up waiting on the line for 43 minutes (phone clock) before an automated voice said the lines were busy and to call back with a hangup.
I finally reached a young man who would listen and I tried to explain my problem but he could do nothing to help me and suggested that I cancel the reservations. I agreed, but he informed me that my refund would be 7-10 business days in processing and that no other fees or penalties would be assessed. He also informed me that the $1,125.50 had been charged to my account! I NEVER authorized the additional funds because it was never discussed. So now I have almost $3,000 in charges on my credit card and must wait 7-10 days for a refund.
My wife checked our American Express account the next day only to find that we are charged $42 and $21 fees by Expedia!
This was my first AND LAST time dealing with this company. They were quick to charge my account but now drag their feet in refunding on a transaction and charge me fees that they made the mistake on! I'm being penalized for their lack of training because I was told that the young lady who took my order was supposed to do a "group" booking and that's why the problem originated.
I want all fees removed and I want my refund processed ASAP.
